Topic: So You Think They Are Faking It…2 [Thursday, 10th Nov. 2016]

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1 KJV)

In addition to letting time expose false prophets and teachers as we saw in the first part of this message, the Bible also gives us a more efficient way of unmasking them: It is to test the spirit by which they operate and we can carry out one of such tests by following the prescription of 1John 4:2-3…”Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:  And every Spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of Antichrists…”

“Testing the spirits” is a spiritual exercise that demands that we be in the Spirit as well. [If devils can identify God’s children, (Acts 19:15), how much more we spotting them out]. Being in the Spirit wil help to identify even the subtlest of falsehoods – (Acts 16:16-18) – and like Paul, we must have zero tolerance for them.

However, the depth of deception is getting more gruesome with time and so, it is becoming more difficult to identify these false ministers. But then, we as Christians have been forewarned: “for there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

(Matthew 24:24 KJV). Therefore, we must be watchful.

But then, before we conclude wrongly and speak against anyone, let us be sure to have tested the spirit or better still heard from God about the fellow; this is because he or she may just be an anointed one of God.(Acts 9:13-16).

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:
Father LORD, I ask that You help me to discern spirits rightly so I do not fall into the danger of bearing false witness against anyone in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
