Yomi Awoniyi

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi has charged Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful in Mopamuro LGA to work hard before the electorate in order to guarantee an overwhelming victory for the party at the various stages of the next month’s general elections.

Awoniyi said the PDP has enough evidence to show to the electorate why the party remains the most preferred choice in 2015, described Mopamuro LGA as a PDP stronghold since 1999 when the party was formed.

Addressing PDP stakeholders from Mopamuro LGA at an empowerment Program put together by Hon Eric Fiki, the State House of Assembly Candidate for Mopamuro State Constituency, Awoniyi said the present administration is committed to free, fair, credible and acceptable elections.” Urged the PDP in Mopamuro to work hard to win convincingly so as to assert their long standing political superiority and majority.

Awoniyi asked his party members not to take anything for granted and not to be complacent, rather he stressed the need for members to strategies and reach out to the electorate ahead of the polls, disclosing that the election is one with a difference considering the presence of other opposition candidates seeking electorates support.

Awoniyi acknowledged the challenges posed by the opposition parties but expressed optimism that  PDP has lived up to its billings in terms of delivery of dividends of democracy, with a positive evidence that it would do more if voted in February.

Awoniyi listed the reasons why the PDP will win to include return of the rail way transport services, improved Road net works, modernized airports, Agriculture and rural development, enhanced power supply, political stability, adherence to the principles of rule of law and human rights as well as freedom of expression under President Goodluck, Jonathan’s administration.

Similarly, the administration of Capt Idris Wada Awoniyi maintained has done so much in the State and for Mopamuro LGA in particular, urged them to reward the party for greater service delivery by voting PDP in all the February election.

In their separate remarks, Hon Williams Shogo, PDP Chairman, Mopamuro LGA and Hon Funsho Daniyan, Former Council Chairman Mopamuro LGA, said they would work hard to ensure the victory of PDP in the area urging the people not to waste their votes in the general election.

They duo who all noted the incursion of opposition parties in the area but insisted that PDP remains the party to beat described a vote for Accord Party or APC as wasted votes.

In his remarks, Hon Eric Fiki, Candidate of the PDP, Mopamuro Local Government Constituency, said the items presented is to aid the women and youths of the area in their petty business.

While disclosing that if elected the empowerment program will be a monthly exercise, assured that he will through quality laws, strive to improve the quality of lives of the people of the area.

In their separate remarks,Gabriel Folade, a youth leader and Mariam Alege who spoke on behalf of the women, commended the efforts of Hon Fiki at empowering his constituents ahead the election, assured of their resolve to vote the PDP in the February elections.

Highlights of the program was the presentation of Refrigerators, Generators, grinding machines, foodstuff and other items to beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme by the State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi.
