The victory of the Council Chairmen and Councilors in Kogi State who were recently reinstated by the Appeal Court has been described as a night mare for the opposition.

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, stated this when he received the National PDP Councilors Forum Kogi State Chapter, who were in his office to endorse the second term ambition of Capt Idris Wada in the forthcoming November 21, governorship election.

Awoniyi, described the joy of Capt Idris Wada as one that know no bond following the Court ruling, said the judgment, was a vidication of the Governor’s desire to have the elected Councils return to office.

Awoniyi, described the Chairmen and Councilors as legally elected to run the affairs of the councils, said the appointment of Senior Special Assistants to manage the councils affairs was Ad-hoc in nature, adding that the State Governor is mindful of the law.

While urging the councilors not to believe rumors making the rounds, the State Governor, Awoniyi, explained is committed  to have the elected councils come on board, said the delay for their resumption was to ensure that due process is followed.

The Deputy Governor explained that the State Governor would be meeting with the reinstated Chairmen on Sunday by 2 pm, at a meeting that would reaffirm the authority of the Council Chairmen, and to affirm the role of the various campaign committees to be constituted at the council level.

While assuring that no one would be left out in the current arrangement that would have everyone come on board for a successful governorship election victory for the party, Awoniyi, assured that no one would lose his or her job by reason of the reinstatement of the Council Chairmen and Councilors.

The Deputy Governor, commended the Councilors for remaining calm, focus and committed to the PDP, described the PDP as the only vehicle that can be used to actualize the yearning and aspiration of people of the State.

Earlier in his remarks, Onogu Collins Monday, State Chairman of the National PDP Councilors Forum, said their Forum have endorsed the second term bid of the Capt Wada/Awoniyi aspiration, congratulated the PDP in advance for the party’s victory ahead the forthcoming governorship polls.

Hon. Onogu described the Governor’s victory in the November, poll as a victory for people of the State, assured of their support as grassroots leaders to deliver the PDP.
