Nineteen schools have registered their interest in contending for honours in this year’s edition of the NNPC/Shell Cup slated between March 16-31 in Kogi state.

The Sports Director of the Ministry of Education, Mr Ezekiel Abraham disclosed this to newsmen on Friday at an emergency meeting of the State National School Sports Stakeholders held in Lokoja.

According to him, three schools indicated interests from the western district, fourteen from the eastern and two from the central senatorial district of the state.

Winner of the competition will represent Kogi at the 17th national finals where four finalists will shared 8.2 million naira while top 10 exceptional talents discovered would be awarded scholarships that will cover their secondary school education.

Saint Augustine College, Kabba, who are yet to register for the football tournament, are the defending champions of the state finals.
