BIBLE READING: 1 Timothy 2:1-4

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

MESSAGE:

The importance of praying for our leaders cannot be overemphasised. In fact, it is one of God’s instructions, as we see in today’s Bible reading. God desires that we lift up those in authority through supplication, intercession, and thanksgiving.

Your intercession for leaders should cut across all sectors and spheres: class, school, church, nation, et cetera. If you don’t know how to pray for your leaders, just ask God to make them people who long after His heart. This is because when people who make God the centre of their lives rule, they make decisions and do things that are beneficial and impactful to society. Today’s memory verse tells us that people rejoice when the righteous are in authority.

Since God commanded us to pray for our leaders, we must obey His command. When you pray for your leaders, they are more likely to lead with wisdom, justice, and peace. A peaceful society İs birthed when citizens seek God’s hand over their leaders. My dear child, don’t join those who complain about, abuse, and make derogatory remarks about leaders; instead, intercede for them and watch God use them to govern well.

ACTION POINT:
For the next 15 minutes, praų for all your leaders.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 14:1-25 Deuteronomy 17-19

HYMN 22 – Sweet Hour Of Prayer! Sweet Hour Of Prayer!

1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
