Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need – Hebrews 4:16
Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:
In Christianity, we don’t try to persuade God to be merciful toward us. We don’t cry out for mercy, hoping He’ll hear and respond. In Christ Jesus, we’ve already obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:10 makes it clear: “Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”
Notice the language; it doesn’t say you’re seeking mercy or waiting for mercy but that you’ve obtained it. Before you ever knew enough to ask for it, God lavished His mercy upon you through Jesus Christ. This understanding should change the way you relate with God. You’re different from those of the Old Testament.
Blind Bartimaeus cried out, “…Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10:47). But through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, you’ve become a beneficiary of God’s abundant mercy and a partaker of His grace. That’s why Hebrews 4:16 tells you to come boldly to the throne of grace: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
It doesn’t say come begging, or fearfully, uncertain of God’s disposition toward you. Rather, it says come boldly and take hold of what has already been provided; receive and enjoy all that His grace has already made available.
Refuse to approach God with a sense of unworthiness or uncertainty. He has already qualified you in Christ to be a partaker of every heavenly blessing: “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light” (Colossians 1:12).
Not only has He lavished His love and grace on you (1 John 3:1, Romans 5:17), He’s also had mercy on you, and His mercy endures forever. Therefore, chin up, chest out, square your shoulders and walk tall! Dominate circumstances, knowing that you’re the Father’s love-child and delight. Glory to God!
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for your abundant mercy that has been freely bestowed on me in Christ Jesus. I live in the consciousness of your love, favour and presence, knowing that your grace is continually at work in and through me. I walk in this victory, confidence and assurance today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
