Memorise: “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” – Romans 6:16

Bible Reading: Romans 6:11-18

11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

14For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Bible Reading In One Year: Proverbs 12-14; 1 Corinthians 16:1-24

MESSAGE:

Today, a lot of young ones are addicted to a several of things. Some are addicted to food, drugs, novel, jewelries, videos, internet games, gambling et cetera. An addition is an inability to stop performing an activity when it is harmful or destroying the addict. You need to know that there is a spirit behind every addiction. There is an evil spirit that propels people to stick to additions even when is not convenient. For example, a person who is addicted to gambling and has the exact amount that would be sufficient for a meal, would rather use the money to gamble and stay hungry. Even when he knows that he might lose the money, he would still go ahead because the spirit would tell him, do it just this once, you might hit jackpot.

A child who is addicted to television would have assignments and chores to perform, but rather leave everything undo and stay glued to the screen. The consequences of addiction are very grievous. You need to break it before it destroys you completely.

Action Point:

Identify and write down the things you’ve addicted to. Then determine to break away from them.

Hymn: When We Walk With The Lord

  1. When we walk with the Lord
    In the light of His Word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way!
    While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
    And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
    Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
    Not a doubt or a fear,
    Not a sigh or a tear,
    Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
    Not a grief or a loss,
    Not a frown or a cross,
    But is blessed if we trust and obey.
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love
    Until all on the altar we lay;
    For the favor He shows,
    For the joy He bestows,
    Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
    We will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
    What He says we will do,
    Where He sends we will go;
    Never fear, only trust and obey.
