TOPIC: The Efficacy of Jesus’ Prayer

READ: John 17:11-19 King James Version (KJV)

11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

13 And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

THE MESSAGE:

The Lord Jesus prayed for His Church before He died. This prayer is effective till the end of this age. He prayed that: 1. The Church be kept indissoluble and united. 2. That His joy shall fill her heart. 3. That she should be kept from the evil one. 4. That she should be sanctified through the Word.

It is this prayer that has kept the Church in spite of the fiery waves of trials, persecutions and temptations that have burned through her all these years. It is this prayer that has sustained some who still uphold and preach the Gospel of Jesus as delivered to His Apostles, raw and uncorrupted. It is this prayer that keeps the Church from being destroyed by the evil one (John 5:18). It is this prayer that has continued to preserve young men and women who still remain virgins until they get married they are sanctified by the Word. It is this prayer that has continued to cause love to exist among many believers of many denominations; they remain united.

Many also, who go through the fiery trials of life, still remain, with the joy of the Lord keeping them. You can depend on and believe His prayer, He has prayed and still intercedes for you today (Hebrews 7:25).

Prayer: Dear Lord, please thank You for praying for me. Keep me trusting You.
