TOPIC: Speak, And Make Us Hear

READ: John 20:11-18 King James Version (KJV)

11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

THE MESSAGE:

Early morning after Jesus had risen from the dead, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb thinking Jesus was still in the grave but on seeing that His body was no longer in the grave, she stood outside by the tomb weeping, thinking that some persons had carried His body away. In verse 14, Mary turns around and sees Jesus standing there, but does not recognise Him. Even when Jesus asks her woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking? Mary does not still recognise Him. She thinks He is a gardener, and asks Him to tell her the place he had kept the body if He was the one who had taken it.

All through this time, Mary’s mind and eyes were closed despite that Jesus had told them that He would resurrect on the third day. But immediately Jesus said to her Mary, she recognised Him and replied Rabboni or Teacher. The voice of Jesus activated the spiritual antenna and opened the spiritual eyes of Mary.

Sometimes in our lives, we may read or study the word of God, but may not understand it. It takes the intervention of God and God opening our spiritual eyes to behold wondrous things out of His word before we can understand it. When God opens our eyes we will see opportunities and understand more.

PRAYER: Ask God to reveal to you every hidden treasure, help and benefits around you which you need for your survival. Ask Him to open your eyes to understand His word, and to speak to you with the voice that raises the dead. Sing stanza 1 of A & M 362

Revive Thy work, oh Lord
Thy mighty arm make bare
Speak with the voice that wakes the dead
And make Thy people hear.
