READ: Psalm 136 (NKJV)
- Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for [He is] good! For His mercy [endures] forever.
- Oh, give thanks to the God of gods! For His mercy [endures] forever.
- Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords! For His mercy [endures] forever:
- To Him who alone does great wonders, For His mercy [endures] forever;
- To Him who by wisdom made the heavens, For His mercy [endures] forever;
- To Him who laid out the earth above the waters, For His mercy [endures] forever;
- To Him who made great lights, For His mercy [endures] forever —
- The sun to rule by day, For His mercy [endures] forever;
- The moon and stars to rule by night, For His mercy [endures] forever.
- To Him who struck Egypt in their firstborn, For His mercy [endures] forever;
- And brought out Israel from among them, For His mercy [endures] forever;
- With a strong hand, and with an outstretched arm, For His mercy [endures] forever;

- Who remembered us in our lowly state, For His mercy [endures] forever;
- And rescued us from our enemies, For His mercy [endures] forever;
- Who gives food to all flesh, For His mercy [endures] forever.
- Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy [endures] forever.
THE MESSAGE:
The phrase, ‘His mercy endures forever’ is repeated throughout this Psalm. We owe God praises -van expression of appreciation. As human beings, we are often moved to gratitude; we thank people who do something good to us. We equally expect people to thank us when we offer help to them. God deserves our praises. We cannot pay Him for what He does for us, but we can express our thanks as a sign of gratitude. God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords (verses 2-3). He is supreme and His work of creation is wonderful. He made great light using the sun for the day and the moon and stars for the night (verses 7-9).
“Gratitude” they say, “is the best attitude.”The grace to live should therefore be appreciated. Thank God for His grace upon you and your family. It is only through the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed (Lamentations 3:22). So, praise the Lord for giving you Light in the day (sun). If it were to be supplied by men, you wouldn’t have paid for the constant supply of it. Praise Him for your deliverance. Thank Him for the dangers you escaped. Count your blessings and name them one by one, it will surely surprise you what the Lord has done for you. So be glad and praise Him today and always.
PRAYER: Take time today to appreciate the goodness of God and offer praises to Him.
