TOPIC: The Gift Of God To The World (Anglican Devotional 16 June 2021)

READ: John 3:17-21(NKJV)

  1. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
  2. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
  3. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
  4. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
  5. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

THE MESSAGE:

Sin is the destructive element that has separated man from God. Romans 3:23 states clearly, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Our text today begins with the assurance that God sent His Son into the world not to condemn sinners but that through Him they might be saved from eternal death. This is indeed the good news – the essence of Jesus’ redemptive work.

You are no longer condemned. Believing in God’s finished work of grace through Christ exempts a man from condemnation. Jesus is the Light of the world. All who practise evil hate the light because it exposes their evil deeds. Children of God represent Jesus as the light of the world in their various locations of residence and business. Are you the light in your place of work or residence? Do people know you as somebody who speaks the truth? Do people see Jesus in you? Please go and be the light of the world today.

PRAYER: “Thank You Lord for the gift of salvation; enable me to shine for Jesus in whatever I do. Amen.
