READ: 1 Thessalonians 1:6-10

  1. And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.
  2. So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
  3. For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
  4. For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
  5. And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Nehemiah 1-3, Acts 2:1-47

MESSAGE:

A leader is someone whose daily living is having a measure of influence on an individual or a group of persons. Leaders with influence stand out. When a bright student has influence, his colleagues seek to relate with him or her outside the class to ask for tutorials on difficult topics. When a campus fellowship leader has influence, students will find time to join fellowship meetings and become active workers for God.

Becoming a person of influence starts from disciplining yourself to do things the right way no matter how inconvenient. Many teenagers are influenced by ungodly people, music, et cetera and as such are propagating negative influences around the world. If you would lead like God wants you to, you must be humble and grow under His influence by studying His word and obeying it. However, one attribute that will make you stand out and influence more people is humility. This attribute will make you care more about others than yourself and when people discover this in you, you’ll become a good example everywhere you go.

PRAYER POINT:

Lord, help me to have a positive influence on others.

HYMN: ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS NAME

  1. All hail the pow’r of Jesus’ name!
    Let angels prostrate fall.
    Bring forth the royal diadem,
    And crown him Lord of all.
  2. Crown Him, ye martyrs of our God,
    Who from His alter call;
    Extol the stem of Jesse’s rod,
    And crown him Lord of all.
  3. Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race,
    A remnant weak and small,
    Hail Him who saves you by His grace,
    And crown him Lord of all.
  4. Ye Gentile sinners, ne’er forget
    the wormwood and the gall;
    Go, spread your trophies at His feet,
    And crown him Lord of all.
  5. Let every kindred, every tribe,
    On this terrestrial ball,
    To Him all majesty ascribe,
    And crown Him Lord of all.
  6. O that with yonder sacred throng
    We at His feet may fall,
    Join in the everlasting song,
    And crown Him Lord of all.
