THE MESSAGE:
Our text continues from where we stopped yesterday, to trace the lineage from Jared to Noah. The passage highlights the lives of several key figures, including Enoch, who “walked with God” and was taken up to heaven without experiencing death. Enoch lived a life of faith, trusting in God’s promises (Hebrews 11:5). He lived a righteous life (Genesis 5:22) and enjoyed a close, personal relationship with God. In the list of people we read about, Enoch decided to stand out and to have an intimate relationship with God, even if he was the only one. People in his generation lived, had children and died, however, Enoch’s story is different: He walked with God, and God noticed it and called him His friend, and then took him away.
This serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of our relationship with God.
Are you living in a way that draws you closer to the Lord each day? Enoch’s example encourages us to prioritize our relationship with God above all else. Seek to deepen your faith and trust in Him, knowing that a life lived in close communion with God, is truly blessed.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me to seek a deeper relationship with You and to live in a way that honours and pleases You. Amen.
