TOPIC: Have Confidence In God

READ: Psalm 54: 1-7(NKJV)

  1. To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. A Contemplation of David when the Ziphites went and said to Saul, “Is David not hiding with us?” Save me, O God, by Your name, And vindicate me by Your strength.
  2. Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth.
  3. For strangers have risen up against me, And oppressors have sought after my life; They have not set God before them. Selah
  4. Behold, God [is] my helper; The Lord [is] with those who uphold my life.
  5. He will repay my enemies for their evil. Cut them off in Your truth.
  6. I will freely sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for [it is] good.
  7. For He has delivered me out of all trouble; And my eye has seen [its desire] upon my enemies.

The MESSAGE:

The Psalmist prays that God will save him, vindicate him and hear his prayer concerning strangers and oppressors who seek to harm his life. However, he is confident that God is his helper, will uphold his life, and will repay his enemies for their evil by cutting them off. Then, he will freely offer sacrifice to God, and praise His name for being delivered out of trouble.

Some Christians become afraid and lose hope when the devil motivates people to rise up against them and to oppress their lives. But God has not given us a spirit of fear (2 Tim. 1: 7). Be confident that God is able to help you and give you victory over your enemies. You can build up your confidence in the Lord by reading, listening, studying, memorising and meditating on the word of God. It is important to build your faith through the word of God (Rom. 10: 17). But remember to praise Him and offer a sacrifice of your time, talent and treasure when He delivers you.

PRAYER: Father, I have confidence in Your ability to deliver me from my troubles. May your grace be sufficient for me in Jesus’ name, Amen.
