TOPIC: Jesus Delivers From Bondage
READ: Luke 4:31-37 (NKJV)
31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,
34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.
THE MESSAGE:
In our text, Jesus came to a Galilean city called Capernaum and taught the people on Sabbath days. As He taught with authority, the people marvelled. A man under the bondage of demons spoke out loudly and asked Jesus if He had come to destroy them and requested Him to allow them remain in the man under their possession because they knew who Jesus really was. However, Jesus commanded them to shut up and get out of the man. The demons obeyed, threw the man down and went out of him, without hurting him. The audience became surprised saying that Christ’s words of command to the evil spirits had authority and power. Jesus Christ was anointed to preach, heal, and deliver people from bondages (Luke 4:18-19).
In our nation and elsewhere, many people are under the captivity of evil spirits. Demonic possession leads people to steal, kill, destroy, kidnap and commit suicide. Jesus simply commanded the demons to get out of the man and they obeyed. Are you under any type of demonic attack or possession? Call on Jesus Christ today for your deliverance. Reject demonic captivity and run to Christ for your freedom. If in doubt, see your Pastor.
PRAYER: Deliver me, O Lord, from every form of demonic activity in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
