TOPIC: Avoid Arguments And Quarrels (Anglican Devotional 29 April 2021)

READ: Titus 3:9-11 (NKJV)

  1. But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless.
  2. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition,
  3. knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.

THE MESSAGE:

Sometimes when people engage in sharp arguments, they end up quarrelling, fighting and going to the hospital or the police station. No wonder our passage today warns Christians to avoid foolish controversies, arguments and quarrels about the law. This is because such activities are useless and not profitable. One who sows division in the Church should be warned at most twice and then excommunicated if he refuses to repent, for such a person is warped, sinful and self-condemned.

Arguments, quarrels, finger-pointing and bickering are rife in many communities in Nigeria today. This can be as a result of arguments on political parties or even a football match. Such discussions sooner or later may degenerate to hot arguments that could lead to quarrels. Christians must avoid arguments and quarrels as the Bible says they are unprofitable and useless. Some wives argue with their husbands where they should be submissive.

Arguments and quarrels over land have sent some to early graves. Let us show love to one another and avoid arguments and quarrels between couples, siblings and friends. Determine today to live above such base behaviour.

PRAYER: Father, may You touch my life in such a way that I shall not argue or quarrel with anybody today. Amen.
