The Nigerian Armed forces have been praised in their fight against insurgency.

Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, stated this at the grand finale of this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance day celebration in Lokoja, Kogi State.

the governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, commended the Nigerian Armed forces for their gallantry in sustaining the peace and unity of the country, described this year’s celebration coming in the year of the nation’s general election as one that calls for sober reflection.

The Governor noted that the several intervention and the sacrifices made by men of the Armed Forces cannot be over emphasized, assured of the state government’s support to the Nigerian legion and the Armed Forces in appreciation of their contribution to the sustenance of the nation’s existence and security.

The state governor called on men of the Nigerian Armed forces to remain resolute in their fight to protect the nation’s territorial integrity and in the current fight against insurgency, which he noted has recently become a challenge to the nation, expressed optimism that the war would be warned soon.
Wada assured of the state government’s enabling environment to men of the Armed forces in the state to enable them discharge their duties professionally.

Capt Wada further reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of families of those who laid their lives for the nation, adding that no amount of encouragement made by the nation for the nation’s Armed Forces is too much for the departed gallant officers.

As the election draws nearer, Capt Wada eschewed for peace among politicians and the electorates, disclosing that the elections should be devoid of violence, urging politicians to play by the rule.

Highlights of this year’s remembrance celebration day was the laying of writs, release of pigeons and the firing of the traditional gun salute in honour of heroes of men of the Armed forces who laid down their lives in defense of the nation’s peace, unity and territorial integrity.
