Memorise: “Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:” – Proverbs 22:24

Read: Proverbs 22:24-25

24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

Bible In One Year: Job 1-3, Acts 7:1-19

MESSAGE:

God asked us to love everyone, but He never said we should make everyone our friend. In fact, Psalm 1:1 says there are certain people that we should not stand, walk or sit with. This is why you have to be very careful who you make your friends. Even though I know many people around the world, I have less than ten friends.

You teenagers are very quick to make friends, this may not be bad in itself, but it is dangerous to make people your friends to quickly. You need to be watchful of those you call friends. If you notice that someone you just met always makes sinful suggestions, it doesn’t matter how much you like the person’s company, stay very far from him/her. If someone you just met seem good, but AHS bad friends, do kit make such an person your friend because it is only a matter of time before he/she introduces you to his/her bad friends too.

If your friend always gets angry with you and makes you feel bad about yourself, tampering with your self esteem in the process, unfriendly him/her immediately. Your friends must have your best interests at heart at all times.

Prayer Point:
Oh Lord, give me the grace to avoid the bad friends that I walk with.

Hymn 16:

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose
    Hear thy gracious Savior say;
    Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray.
  2. Principalities and power
    Mustering their unseen array
    Wait for the unguarded hours:
    Watch and pray
  3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
    Wear it ever night and day;
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    Watch and pray.
  4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
    Still they mark each warrior’s way;
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    Watch and pray.
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou loves to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word:
    Watch and pray.
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    Watch and pray.
