TOPIC: A Harvest Of Blessings Requires Great Sacrifice
Bible Text: “Sluggards do not plow in season; so at harvest time they look but find nothing.” – Proverbs 20:4
A harvest of blessings requires great sacrifice. This is because gardens don’t plant themselves neither do they weed, water, or do any of the things necessary for them to thrive. To enjoy all the blessings that a garden can produce requires a good deal of intentionality, determination, and sweat. No matter how well you start, without hard work, your garden simply won’t do well. This is practically so with every other area of life.

If you want a strong relationship with God, then it is going to require intentionality and work on your part. You must be able to sacrifice some things in order to make time to spend with God and develop your faith. If you want a healthy marriage or a solid relationship with your children as they grow older; these things will require daily work to tend, care for, and occasionally address the “weeds” that crop up. These principles apply to your finances, your health, and every other sphere of life. It is crazy to just assume that the blessings of life will spring out of an untilled life. We have to prepare ourselves to receive the blessing God wants us to experience.
There’s no doubt that God can bring blessings in spite of neglected efforts. According to Matthew 5:45,God is gracious and generous causing the sun to shine on the godly and ungodly. For example, It is possible to see some vegetables growing up in your yard without planting them but that’s rare and where it occurs, it will never be sufficient to sustain you. You will still need to intentionally plow your own field to get the abundance that you need. It would be foolishly presumptuous to assume that God will always bless you when you don’t put forth the effort and action required to attract those blessings.
Many people desire great harvests of blessing but they don’t work hard to plow their fields. Those who plant don’t bother to till the ground and water the seed. A harvest of blessing requires definite plans; breaking up the soil, planting those seeds, and picking the weeds. It’s going to take effort. There are going to be days where you don’t want to do what’s required, but you must remember what you’re working towards. You must remember that harvest-time will come.
Beloved of God, without deliberate steps, there can’t be any harvest. Like gardening, if you make this investment today in something you can’t quite see; one day in the future you will reap a harvest that would not otherwise have been possible. Therefore, you can start to plant those seeds now so you can reap a bountiful harvest when the time comes. If you can make that sacrifice now, you will get the best things later.
PROPHETIC PRAYER
I pray for you today:
- May you not miss your time and season in the name of Jesus.
- The Lord will bless you with a harvest that far surpasses your wildest expectations.
- He will satisfy you with His abundant goodness.
- The Lord will destroy every destructive pests in your garden.
- He will frustrate every activity of spiritual cankerworm in your business and your career.
So shall it be in Jesus name. Amen.
