READ: Psalms 103:1-3

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Bible In One Year: 1 Samuel 10-12; Luke 13:22-35

MESSAGE:

Just the way you expect people to thank you when you do something for them, is the same way and even more that God expects gratitude from His children. Gratitude gives God pleasure especially when it is directed towards Him. There are so many things that we enjoys from God’s benevolence which we sometimes take for granted. In our bible reading for today, David, the man after God’s heart preaches to himself when it seem he was being forgetful of the benefits of God.

The first thing he mentioned was the benefits of forgiveness. Many children of God these days don’t appreciate this. In the Old Testament, only the priests could enter the holy of holies. Now, we all have gained access to the throne of grace through the death and resurrection of Christ. This access is worth being grateful for throughout our lifetime. It is unfortunate that some fellows take the redemptive work of Christ for granted by committing sin against God continually. Like the Psalmist, learn to thank God for forgiveness. Appreciate the blessing of redemption by abstaining from sin.

Key Point:

If you appreciate what Jesus did, don’t indulge in sin.

Hymn 16:

1.To God be glory, great things He hath done,
So loved he the world that He gave us His son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Chorus:
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord
Let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord Praise the Lord
Let the people rejoice!
O Come to the father,
Through Jesus the son;
And give Him the glory!
Great things he hath done!

2.O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

3.Great things he hath taught us
Great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see
