The Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, on Tuesday announced that Gernot Rohr has signed a two-year contract to be the Technical Adviser of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

  1. He was born on June 28, 1953 (age 63). He is from Mannheim, Germany.
  2. He played as a defender for Bayern Munich in 1972 – 74 (6 appearances), SV WaldhofMannheim from 1974-75 (21 apps), Kickers Offenbach from 1975-77 (62 apps), and Bordeaux 1977-89 (352 apps)
  3. He was sports director of Eintracht Frankfurt from October 1998 until April 1999
  4. He managed Bordeaux From 1990 to 1999 where he almost won the UEFA cup (lost to Bayern in Final)
  5. Between 2002 to 2009 he managed a number of teams – Creteil, Nice, Young Boys, Ajaccio, Etoile Sahel, and Nantes.
  6. He replaced Alain Giresse as coach of the Gabon national football team in February 2010. He spent two years in the position.
  7. He became manager of Niger national football team in September 2012. He resigned in October 2014.
  8. The next year he was appointed as manager of Burkina Faso national football team. He was sacked on 22 December 2015.
  9. He was shortlisted for the Guinea national team job in July 2016
  10. He was working on development programmes for the German football association (DFB) before his appointment.
