Memorise: For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: Exodus 34:14

Read: Exodus 20:3-5

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Bible In One Year: 2 Samuel 7-9; Luke 19:1-28

MESSAGE:

Practically everyone these days will deny that they are idol worshippers, whereas many are actually worshipping idols. In the past, the only idols we knew of were graven images or elements of nature which people bow down to. Today, we have some new idols. Some of them are the latest smartphones, popular musicians, famous actors, games and interesting TV series.

How do you if you are worshipping an idol? Whatever you think of, love or spend more time with than God is an idol. Also, whatever you cannot let go for the sake of Christ is an idol. God is always looking out for idol worshippers amongst His children because He is a jealous God. He noticed how much Abraham loved Isaac, so He decided to see if Isaac had become an idol to Abraham; He told him to sacrifice Isaac to Him. The moment it became clear that Isaac was not an idol to Abraham, God showered blessings on him. Many people are starved of God’s blessings because they have unconsciously created idol in their lives. You must do everything to ensure that there is no idol in your life.

Action Point:

Idols are to be destroyed. Destroy everything and detach yourself from everyone that is taking the place of God in your heart.

Hymn 7:

1.Take my life and let it be
Consecrated Lord to thee
Take my moment and days
Let them flow ceaseless praise.

2.Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of thy love
Take my feet and them be
Swift and beautiful for thee

3.Take my voice and let me sing
Always only for my king
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from thee.

4.Take my sliver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as thou shalt choose.

5.Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall no longer mine:
Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,

6.Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At They feet its treasure store;
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee
