Lagos, Nigeria 11th April 2016: Following its recent announcement of a PC adoption initiative, Innovation and Technology giant Intel has taken its goal of expanding the PC market in Nigeria a step further, as it commences its Intel Retail Tour and In-store promotions in Benin and Ibadan.

Intel, along with its partners—Microsoft, HP, Lenovo, Acer and Tecno, organised a training session for retailers and resellers, advising them on the right way to buy and sell devices, as well as the incentives available to them. This is due to the increasing need to identify consumers and partners in these parts of the country, and empower them with information and opportunities, while also expanding the PC market.

The event in Benin and Ibadan was also a great opportunity for consumers to see, feel, touch and experience the latest and greatest Intel-based technology and devices, very much unlike the bulky and difficult to use computers that PC users have become accustomed to, over the years.

Speaking on the Retail Tour, Marketing and PR Manager, Intel West Africa, Adim Isiakpona, said, “We want more Nigerians to understand the importance of technology and the productivity it can offer them in their endeavours, and for us, the best way to do this was for the consumers to experience and see for themselves how much the PC has evolved. It is no longer huge and impossible to navigate. Now you can carry it around, flip the screen over, give touch commands, and collapse a laptop into a tablet instantly. The possibilities are endless.”

The Benin and Ibadan tour which held for three days respectively, saw hundreds of residents thronging to the venues, Emokpae primary school in Benin, Mauve21 Event Centre and John Paul’s hall in Ibadan, to experience a demonstration of the latest devices available from Intel and its partners.

The experience was heightened when all guests who attended the training sessions and visited the demo display were entered into a raffle draw to win some of the devices on display.

On the exciting giveaway, Isiakpona noted: We decided to give back to all these lovely people who came out to learn and experience our latest technology. It’s a great way to help kick-start their digital journey.’’
Commenting on the Intel Retail Tour, Oyesiji Blessing, a student who attended the Ibadan tour from Adeleke University in Osun State and won a Lenovo Yoga 300 device said, “I love everything about technology but it is not always affordable because I am a student. I am happy I finally have a computer to myself. This is a great surprise from Intel.’’

Victor Idahosa, a cleaner who won an HP Notebook 14 and Helen Ekwerre, a technology lover who won a Tecno Winpad; amongst others also commended the efforts of Intel and its partners.
In all, 9 Intel based devices, including the Lenovo Yoga 300, Tecno Winpad, HP Notebook, and other fantastic prizes were given away on the spot to the amazement of all present.

According to Intel, the Retail Tour will hit Ilorin, Kaduna and Enugu states in the next few months.
