Kogi State Government have assured communities clamoring for upgrade of their traditional stools to be patient as very soon the government would begin the implementation of the recommendation of the committee’s report set up to review the upgrade of traditional institutions across the state.

Capt Idris Wada, Kogi State Governor gave the assurance at the dedication/commissioning of the Olu Okebukun Bunu Ultra Modern Palace, conferment of Chieftaincy Titles and Launching of Twenty Million Naira endowment fund raising, in Okebukun Bunu, Kabba Bunu LGA of Kogi State.

Capt Wada was represented at the occasion by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, assured that expecting communities in the state would be happy with the positive recommendations made by the committee, describing it as all encompassing and met the expectation of the people.

Capt Wada commended the Olu Okebukun Bunu and the people of Okebukun Bunu for their support to his administration, said their demand for an upgrade of their stool to a second class status will be given attention when the reports of the review committee is made public.

The governor assured that the present administration will continue to give the traditional institution a deserved place in his administration, disclosing that as custodian of the peoples culture and tradition it deserves government’s attention.

Capt Wada urged the people to be patient with the present administration, said it is aware of the peoples expectation to deliver, it is however constrained by available resources.

Capt Wada congratulated the people of Okebukun for successfully completing the befitting palace for the Olu Okebukun Bunu, and congratulated those who were also honored with traditional titles.

Capt Wada particularly praised the conferment of the title of Olumeto of Okebukun,  on the Kogi State Head of Service, Dr Moses Atakpa,described him as a man of impeccable character and a first class civil servant.

Earlier in his address, HRH Oba Timothy Omonile 111, Oba Olubukun Bunu, called for the upgrade of the stool of Olu Okebukun as provided for by the 1976/1977 local government reform in the then Kwara state.

Oba Omonile, said the building of a new palace was geared towards, providing a befitting place for the traditional institution and to provide a meeting place for the people.

In a remarks on behalf of those honored with Chieftaincy Titles, Dr Moses Atakpa, who was conferred with the title of Olumeto of Okebukun, said the honour will spur them to do more for humanity.

Dr Atakpa particularly said he is motivated by the honour to do more for the Kogi State Civil Service, describing the State Civil Service as one of the most vibrant and productive in the country.
