Topic: Sacrifice of Praise [21/9/2016]

Praising our Father is very paramount for us. It is a means of expressing our love for Him. We are in a love relationship with our Father, and as in every love relationship, eulogising and complimenting your partner is important. It not only makes your partner happy, it makes your partner know you love him or her. So also it is with us and God. Yes, God knows all things but we still need to express our love through praises to Him.
Another reason we should praise God is because it is a sacrifice to Him. Hebrews 13:15 says: “by him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” In the old testament, one of the ways to worship God was the sacrifice of burnt offerings. Solomon did it when the ark of the covenant was brought into Jerusalem in 2 Chronicles 1:1-6.
Like everything with God, that is done with the help of God’s Spirit, so also is the sacrifice of Praise. Scriptures says “by him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually…” (Hebrews 13:16). Since this is a sacrifice to God, it will always be by the Spirit, just like the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross (Hebrews 9:14). Praises unto God should be done and inspired by God’s Spirit, if not it will amount to just physical exercise.

Dear Lord, thank You for establishing a love relationship with me. By Your Spirit at work in me, I offer unto You the sacrifice of praise. Your praise will daily be in my lips always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
