The leadership of Kogi West Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have endorsed the re-election of Capt. Idris Wada for a second term.

The endorsement of the Governor for a second term in office took place at a meeting held at the Rekiya Ogbeha Place today, 13th of August, 2017.

The endorsement of the Governor for another term in office, the Leader of the West PDP disclosed, is not un-conditional as the declared their resolve to see to the actualization of power rotation in the State after the tenure of Capt. Wada.

The Leaders commended the Governor for his ability to maintain careful balance between human and infrastructural development in the management of the resources of the State.

The meeting was attended by over 150 leaders of the PDP from Kogi West. Prominent among those who attended the meeting is Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, Kogi State Deputy Governor, Sen. Tunde Ogbeha, two-time Senator and Governor of old Bendel and Akwa-Ibom State.

Others in attendance are Prince Olushola Akanmode, former Deputy Chief of Staff in the Presidency, Alhaji Musa Ahmadu and Hon. Shola Ojo, former Secretary to the Government of Kogi State. Also in attendance were Dr. (Mrs) Grace Gunwa, Hon. Sam Abenemi, Deputy  Chairmen of Kogi State PDP, Barr Kola Ojo, Vice – Chairman (west) of PDP, and Local Government Chairmen of the Party in the Western Senatorial District.

The meeting was also attended by Prince Matthew Kolawole, Majority Leader of Kogi State, Engr. S.B. Bello, Olori Margaret Orebiyi, former Council Chairmen, former House of Assembly members and a host of others from the District.

The leaders at the meeting disclosed that a notice of their resolution to engage with other stakeholders of the State on power rotation has been communicated to His Excellency the Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, Senator Ahmadu Ali, former National Chairman of PDP and Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, former Governor and other members of the Kogi State Elders Council.

While the leaders at the meeting noted the activities of groups that have advocated for power shift, they admitted that the agitation has been acknowledged by His Excellency Capt. Idris Wada, as an issue that should not be spontaneous only at election periods, but one that should be planned and executed methodically and conscientiously.

The leaders equally noted that the achievements of Capt. Wada in the face of grave financial challenges have remained under publicized, leading to unsavoury comments by a section of the populace who know the truth but have chosen to play politics with serious economic issues.

The leaders at the meeting also reviewed issues relating to workers salaries and commended the Governor for the efforts he has made so far on the payment of the salaries of the State Public Service.

On the payment of salaries of workers at the Local Government Service, particularly Teachers, the leaders noted that the shortfall in the payment of the salaries arose from the declining allocation to Local Government Councils from the Federation Account.

The leaders, however, appealed to the Teachers and staff in the Local Government Service to be patient with the Governor as he makes continuous efforts to remedy the situation.
