The yellow and black commercial buses in Lagos state, popularly known as ‘Danfo’, will soon be stopped from plying Broad street and Apongon, as part of measures taken to free Lagos Island of traffic gridlock.

Agboola Dabiri, the Special Adviser to Governor Akinwumi Ambode on Central Business District (CBD),  disclosed this on Wednesday, January 13, Daily Post reports.

He said Apongbon towards Broad Street (formerly known as Western Avenue) would be cordoned off such that commercial buses would find it difficult to pick and drop passengers, adding that the ultimate goal is to make Broad Street and Apongbon zero tolerant to yellow buses.

Meanwhile, the Lagos state government has revealed that the reason for the repair and installment of street lights across the state is to beef up security and also introduce night service for BRT vehicles.

In a statement issued by the Lagos state government on Wednesday, January 13, it was reported that Governor Ambode had set up an advisory council chaired by the deputy governor, Dr. Idiat Oluranti-Adebule, with a charge on them to make electricity available to Lagosians.
