The Kogi state government has described the death of Mrs Joe Alhassan, as tragic, sad and senseless, and coming at a time when her services to the state was most needed.

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, stated this when he visited Arc. Bishop Emmanuel Egbunu, of the Anglican Communion to console with the church over the death of two of his parishioners.

Awoniyi described the circumstances of the death of Mrs Alhassan as painful, said the state has lost one of its finest, and best material.

The Deputy Governor described the death as a loss and a sad one to the state, said it was more senseless coming a few days to the sixty year birthday of the late Architect and when she would have completed her mandatory thirty five years in the state civil service.

While describing the late Mrs Alhassan as a wonderful personality, a complete woman and mother, Awoniyi described the death not only as a loss to her immediate family but to the entire state.

The Deputy Governor, prayed God to grant the husband, children and her  immediate family the fortitude to bear the loss, urged them to be consoled by the fact that she died in the service of God.
Awoniyi, urged the Anglican Church to see the present time as one geared towards testing their faith, urged them to seek succor in the bosom of the Lord and expressed the sincere condolences of the  Kogi state government to the Church and the families of those who lost their loved ones in the gruesome murder.

Late Mrs Joe Alhassan and another member of the Anglican Church where killed on their way from a missionary work in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State. The attackers were alleged to have opened fire on the vehicle of the missionaries, which left two occupant of the vehicle including late Mrs Alhassan dead and others injured.
