Kogi state governor Captain Idris Wada has appointed former Nigerian international Abdul Sule as the new chairman of Kogi United and Confluence Queens.

Sule, who was confirmed on Wednesday, until his new appointment previously served as the technical director of the Lokoja-based clubs since November 2013.

The Kogi-born player turned administrator replaced the Abdul Adama who quit the position last Wednesday for personal reasons, assured he will steer the Lokoja-based second tier outfit to it first ever promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

“I’m happy with this higher position in my football career. This is one of the challenges in life, though such is a positive challenge. What people should expect is that – we are going to make them proud and We will get out target which is a promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League.

“Fans should expect to see a very good football, very talented players, aggressive and scoring a lot of goals. We are set for the league (NNL). With the players we have on ground at the moment, i think we don’t have anything to be afraid of.

“Off course, we are going to miss (Abdul Adama). I’m not somebody new from outside – I know the terrain, we don’t have anything to be afraid of because i’m an insider.

“Personally, we will miss him. The foundation the former chairman has laid, we will build on it till we get to the roof top which is the premier league,” he concluded.

The former Stationary Stores goal poacher who was born in Kaduna though of a Kogi state origin played in Africa Cup and World Cup matches for the Super Eagles from 1990 to 1993.

The former BCC Lions attacker despite failing to make it to the 1994 Fifa World Cup in the USA with coach Clement Westerhof he enjoyed great career successes in Qatar, Denmark and Malaysia.

Sule retire in 2008 after brief stint at then Nigerian Premier League club, Plateau United to join European Sports Management (ESM) as an associated football scout.
