Topic: Growing up Spiritually [Thursday April 9, 2015]

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby:”-1 Peter 2:2

When a child is born, he or she is fed according to their ability to ingest and digest food. They are fed milk, according to their tenderness. This is how we all are when we become born again. We are fed, according to our understanding. However, the difference is that while mothers in the natural determine what their babies eat to grow, YOU determine what, when and how you eat the Word of God.

Just as a baby who never graduated from the milk phase in the physical is stunted, a Christian who never graduates from the milk of the Word, is stunted. Greater nutrients to facilitate growth and development are needed. This is how God expects you to healthily grow from a baby to an adult.

Just as you would not watch your baby remain an infant forever, God does not expect you to remain as a new convert all your life. He has better packages for you that you cannot understand at the baby stage, until you grow and mature. However, to get to that stage, you need the right quality and quantity of food required for healthy growth.

To grow in God’s Word you have to delight yourself in it. Take it as your favourite meal. Just like you would not get tired of your best meal, see the Word in that light. Enjoy eating it because it is meant to keep you refreshed as milk (1 Corinthians 3:2) and is sweet to the mouth like honey (Psalm 199:103). Also, every Word contained in it is a personal note from God to you.

Therefore, to live a successful Christian life, endeavour to study, mediate and commit yourself to the Word. This is what guarantees your placement in life.

Remain Blessed!
