“Rickey Tarfa SAN was arrested by the anti-corruption agency, the Economic Finance and Fiscal Commission (EFCC),on the 5th of this month.
“The Adamawa born lawyer, later appeared at a bail hearing with 90 lawyers, majority who where Senior Advocates like himself. APC UK believes this was a calculated attempt to intimidate the government’s anti-corruption agency. Justice Aishat Opesanwo of Lagos State High Court, Igbosere expressed similar thoughts.
“APC UK is baffled at the need for such support from so many lawyers. We expect better from such ministers in the temple of justice.
“Is this what they were taught at the law school? To support people charged to court just because they are lawyers? Was Rickey Tarfa not tempering with justice when he tried to pervert the course of justice? It is advisable that lawyers support the fight against corruption and not work against government agencies set up to do so. The government through its agencies should be allowed to carry out its work of ridding our beloved country of corruption that has eaten so much into it. ”
