Memorise: “For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” – 1 Timothy 2:2

Read: 1 Timothy 2:1-3

  1. I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
  2. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
  3. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 38-39, Hebrews 1

MESSAGE:

Leadership is a serious issue. Thinking that the successor of a leader will go through lesser trails, troubles, and hardship than the predecessor is wishful thinking. As a leader, you are more vulnerable to attacks than anyone else. You will be in the forefront and when you strike the Shepard, the sheep will scatter (Matthew 26:31).

This is why there are leaders who start with good intentions then end up doing nothing. It is not because they don’t want to but because there are forces that hinder the true success of a leader. Some even succeed in that position of leadership but fail in another equally important area of their lives.

With this new knowledge that you haven’t been exposed to, you should now understand how important prayer is to a leader. It is only with prayers that a leader can be preserved and kept to do what he/she has been called to do. Do you pray for your leaders?

Reflection:

When last did you pray for your Leaders?

Hymn 16

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose
    Hear thy gracious Savior say;
    Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray.
  2. Principalities and power
    Mustering their unseen array
    Wait for the unguarded hours:
    Watch and pray
  3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
    Wear it ever night and day;
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    Watch and pray.
  4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
    Still they mark each warrior’s way;
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    Watch and pray.
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou loves to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word:
    Watch and pray.
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    Watch and pray.
