The MESSAGE:
Put to death the works of the flesh by the Spirit. A lot of believers think that living a life of Holiness is impossibility. Because, they have probably asked the Lord several times to help them overcome their sinful tendencies like quarreling, anger, malice, prayerlessness, not reading the Bible, envy, rebellion… etc, but yet to no avail. Some have come to the conclusion that overcoming sin is not what the Bible really teaches so they need to accept themselves the way they are and let go on. But the Scripture actually teaches us to live according to the Spirit (Romans 8:12-13), which is the major difference between a believer indwelt by the Holy Spirit and an unbeliever without the Holy Spirit.
Scripture does teach that since the Holy Spirit dwells in you, that you live a life that consistently pleases God and your mind set on the flesh is put to death by the Spirit.
Putting to death, the deeds of the flesh by the spirit is the ‘abundant life’, Jesus referred to in (John 10:10). It is possible to live this abundant life knowing that, we can live with a realisation that God fulfilled the requirement of the law in us through Christ. Also as people ‘set free’ from the power of sin and death, set our minds on things of the Spirit rather.
It is only by the help of the Spirit that one can constantly put to death the conducts of the body. This is not done once but we have to put the activities of the flesh to death over and over again throughout our life time –as Paul said, “I die daily…” We should actively kill sinful deeds by the power of the Holy Spirit. Putting to death the deeds of the body is a characteristic of God’s children. No action or price is too great to pay in changing from sin to trusting Christ, thereby escaping the damnation of eternal death in hell. Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me O God…” is a sincere prayer that unmasks the deceit of sin. Finally as a believer, always faithfully and submissively saturate your life with the truth of God’s word.

- O Lord, kindle the fire of charity in my life, in the name of Jesus.
- My Father, glue me together where I am oppose to myself, in the name of Jesus.
- Father, enrich me with Your gifts, in the name of Jesus.
EVENING - O Lord, quicken me and increase my desire for the things of heaven, in the name of Jesus.
- By Your rulership O Lord, let the lust of the flesh in my life die, in the name of Jesus.
- Lord Jesus, increase daily in my life, in the name of Jesus.
- Lord Jesus, maintain Your gifts in my life, in the name of Jesus.
