TOPIC – Heroes Of Faith: Barak (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 7 October 2026)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 13, Jeremiah 14, John 21, Acts 1.
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Judges 4:6-10, 14-16 (KJV)
Judges 4:6-10
6 And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
7 And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.
8 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.
9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the Lord shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
10 And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.
Judges 4:14-16
14 And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the Lord hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the Lord gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
15 And the Lord discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.
16 But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.
MEMORY VERSE: And the Lord discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet. – Judges 4:15 (KJV)

PRAISE AND WORSHIP: Take praise and worship songs as led by the Holy Spirit.
PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY: May your ego not stand in the way of divine agenda, in the Name of Jesus.
MFM Devotional For Today 2026 MESSAGE:
It is impossible to have faith in God without humility. When you have faith in God, you don’t mind who gets the recognition as long as God is glorified. Today’s hero of faith is Barak, the man who was used by God to subdue the army of Jabin, king of Canaan.
God used Deborah to call Barak and inform him of his divine assignment. He did not argue with God, he only asked for Deborah to go with him (Judges 4:7-8). Deborah was a representative of God. Faith recognises that nothing can be done through human efforts alone without divine presence. Like Barak, we should strive to carry God’s presence everywhere, knowing that we are and can do absolutely nothing without Him.

In Judges 4:9, Deborah tells Barak that Sisera would be defeated by a woman. He was to be the captain of the army but God would not let him defeat the captain of the enemy’s army. At this point, many of us would have thought it wasn’t worth it. Many would have thought they were being used, they would go as far as saying the woman should be the captain of the army and God should leave them alone. But, Barak did not do any of those things. He did not even feel intimidated by the fact that God was using women. Many men need to learn how to honour women as fellow heirs of the grace of God (1 Peter 3:7), they need to learn to put their ego aside and let God glorify Himself, even if He does it through women. Barak understood his own assignment and pursued it.
This lesson needs to be learnt by many believers today. Beloved, everyone in the kingdom has a specific assignment. Some people may have assignments that make them look more prominent than others but, I assure you, they are not more important than the ones whose assignments keep them hidden. We all work together to showcase the glory of God. Like Barak, we all need to recognise our specific callings and function in them by faith. May the Lord be glorified through us, in Jesus’ Name.
