TOPIC: In The World, But Not Of The World (I) (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Monday, 30 July 2018)
FIRE SCRIPTURE: John 17: 14-16
MEMORY VERSE: “If the world hates you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.” – John 15:18
The MESSAGE:
The word “world” means the entire creation, the universe. It means all men and women on earth (John 14:30; 1 John 5:19). To be in the world means living in the world, dwelling in it, planning for your life and future, engaging in the needful, like getting educated, getting married, having and raising children. The world has its own traditions and patterns which believers are not supposed to live by. The way of the world encourages gratification of the flesh at the expense of the soul. It is characterised by exploiting others for self satisfaction. It is a normal thing in the world to take advantage of others and oppress the weak. All these and more are the characteristics of those who are of the world. The goal of those of the world is to satisfy their lust in any possible way irrespective of who is negatively affected.
As believers, we are pilgrims and strangers in the world, and in this world, fornication, adultery, filthy communications and other works of the flesh abound. Yet, we are warned not be involved in any of these. Righteous living is expected of Christians as we look forward to our heavenly home. We must not love the world and the things that are in the world (1 John 2:15). If you love the world, it means the love of the Father (God) is not in you. As Christians we are physically in the world, but are not to be controlled by the world and its ways of doing things, which is anti-GOD (1 John 2:16-17). You must avoid the lust of the eyes [covetousness of all kinds], lust of the flesh [being controlled by what the body demands -alcohol, hard drugs, sex, etc.], pride of life [arrogance that comes from the possession of power, wealth, beauty or fame ascribed to one’s wisdom and ability rather than to God’s grace]. Beloved, you should be free from the love of the world (Ephesians 4:17-32).
Following the way of the world only leads to destruction. Many believers have been tempted with the pleasures of sin: some yielded to the temptation while some resisted it. The devil will entice you with the pleasures of the world, but Christ expects you to resist him and he will leave you alone. Temptation does not last long. It is just for a few moments. Once you resist it, it will disappear from you. Separate yourself from the corruption of the world with prayer and the word of God, you will have victory over every temptation and live a victorious Christian life. Remember, your citizenship is in heaven. Live one day at a time as a sojourner on earth because Christ is still coming back for you.

4. O Lord, create in me a clean heart by Your power, in the name of Jesus.
5. O Lord, establish me as a holy person unto You, in the name of Jesus.
6. O Lord, quicken me and increase my desire of the things of heaven, in the name of Jesus.
7. Father Lord, let me experience Your kingdom in every department of my life, in the name of Jesus.
