Topic: Prevent Future Regrets [Open Heaven for Teens 14 February 2021]

Memorise: Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, Ephesians 5:15

Read: 2 Kings 5:20-27

20 Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself, “My master wastoo easy on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely as the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him.”

21 So Gehazi hurried after Naaman. When Naaman saw him running toward him, he got down from the chariot to meet him. “Is everything all right?” he asked.

22 ”Everything is all right,” Gehazi answered. “My master sent me to say, ‘Two young men from the company of the prophets have just come to me from the hill country of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two sets of clothing.’ “

23 ”By all means, take two talents,” said Naaman. He urged Gehazi to accept them, and then tied up the two talents of silver in two bags, with two sets of clothing. He gave them to two of his servants, and they carried them ahead of Gehazi.

24 When Gehazi came to the hill, he took the things from the servants and put them away in the house. He sent the men away and they left.

25 Then he went in and stood before his master Elisha. “Where have you been, Gehazi?” Elisha asked. “Your servant didn’t go anywhere,” Gehazi answered.

26 But Elisha said to him, “Was not my spirit with you when the man got down from his chariot to meet you? Is this the time to take money, or to accept clothes, olive groves, vineyards, flocks, herds, or menservants and maidservants?

27 Naaman’s leprosy will cling to you and to your descendants forever.” Then Gehazi went from Elisha’s presence and he was leprous, as white as snow.

Bible In One Year: Leviticus 18-19; Mathew 27:32-66

MESSAGE:

The story of Gehazi is really a sad one. Greed made him go after Naaman against the wish of his master, Elisha. In 2 Kings 2:8-15, Elisha asked for and got the double portion of Elijah’s anointing, but the story is different with Gehazi. Maybe he would have acted differently, if he had known that what he would get from his master was the leprosy of Namaan instead of the double portion of Elisha’s anointing.

You need to know that there are consequences for every action you take; Some consequences may be mild, others may be so grave that even if God shows mercy, the person’s life can never be as perfect as God planned it. Beloved, don’t live anyhow. Some young ones when corrected after doing something wrong would say, “It is my life” Actually, it is not your life, it is God who gives breath and He created everyone for a purpose. On the last day, we all will give account of how we lived the life He gave to us. Therefore, think of the future before you act. Before you celebrate Valentine’s Day in an unholy manner, think of the consequences of unholy living here on earth and The eternal destination it leads to (hell). Don’t destroy your future because of the celebration of one day. Prevent future regrets by doing the will of God today and always.

Reflection:

Don’t celebrate Valentine’s day in an unholy manner.

Hymn 7: Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose
    Hear thy gracious Savior say;
    Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray.
  2. Principalities and power
    Mustering their unseen array
    Wait for the unguarded hours:
    Watch and pray
  3. Gird the heavenly armor on,
    Wear it ever night and day;
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    Watch and pray.
  4. Hear the victors who o’ercame,
    Still they mark each warrior’s way;
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    Watch and pray.
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou loves to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word:
    Watch and pray.
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    Watch and pray.
