READ: 1 John 4:4 (KJV)

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 15:11-32 , 1 Samuel 19-21

MESSAGE:

Authority is the ability to give orders to people. Every believer has some authority or the other given to him/her through Jesus Christ who died and resurrected on the third day. Matthew 28:18 says:

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

Jesus had to make that announcement so that the whole world would know. The good news however, is that the moment anyone gives his/her life to Christ, he/she becomes an heir and also has all that Jesus does. Thus, if you are still being oppressed by wicked forces or operating under any curse, it just might be that you have relinquished your authority to them by engaging in some sinful act or you are yet to realize the magnitude of the power you have. The Bible says the day a son knows his right, he stops being a slave, he begins to act like a son.

If you have lost your authority through sin, repent today and regain your authority over sin, the devil and his cohorts.

KEY POINT:

When a son knows his position, he stops being a slave.

HYMN: Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus

  1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus
    Ye soldiers of the cross!
    Lift high His royal banner;
    It must not suffer loss.
    From vict’ry unto vict’ry
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    the trumpet call obey;
    Forth to the mighty conflict,
    In this His glorious day;
    Ye that are men now serve Him
    against unnumbered foes;
    let courage rise with danger,
    and strength to strength oppose.
  3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    stand in his strength alone;
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own:
    put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer;
    where duty calls, or danger,
    be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    The strife will not be long;
    this day the noise of battle,
    the next the victor’s song:
    to him that overcometh
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    shall reign eternally.
