MESSAGE:

An adage says, What a bird has eaten will propel it to fly. In simple terms, how high a bird will fly is determined by what it has eaten. A hungry bird will not able to go a long distance or even fly at all. If you want to fly high, particularly in your academics, you need to feed your brain – irrespective of your gender. Gone are those days when women were limited from reaching the helm of affairs due to their gender. There are boss ladies in different sectors and countries of the world today.

Read books across disciplines, watch documentaries, read biographies. Be an insatiable learner but let the Holy Spirit guide you on the kind of knowledge to acquire. Rather than waste time on social media, read, because through reading, you will soon acquire the knowledge that took the author a long time to pen down and publish.

Also, ensure you apply the knowledge you acquire from the good books. This will set you apart and make you rise above your peers. When you do this, you have acted in wisdom.

KEY POINT

Reading gives you an edge above your peers.

HYMN: Lead Us Heavenly Father

  1. Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us
    o’er the world’s tempestuous sea;
    guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
    for we have no help but Thee;
    yet possessing every blessing,
    if our God our Father be.
  2. Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us:
    all our weakness Thou dost know;
    Thou didst tread this earth before us,
    Thou didst feel its keenest woe;
    lone and dreary, faint and weary,
    through the desert Thou didst go.
  3. Spirit of our God, descending,
    fill our hearts with heavenly joy,
    love with every passion blending,
    pleasure that can never cloy:
    thus provided, pardoned, guided,
    nothing can our peace destroy.
