TOPIC – Mind Your Confession (Open Heaven for Teens, 2 October 2026)

MEMORISE: A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. Proverbs 6:12

BIBLE READING: 2 Kings 4:18-26

18 And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers.

19 And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother.

20 And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.

21 And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.

22 And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.

23 And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.

24 Then she saddled an ass, and said to her servant, Drive, and go forward; slack not thy riding for me, except I bid thee.

25 So she went and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is that Shunammite:

26 Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well.

MESSAGE:

A great lesson to learn from the Shunamite woman in today’s Bible reading is that you must be mindful of what you say, especially when you are going through a difficult situation. When her son died, she didn’t complain or make negative confessions to her husband or Gehazi; rather, she said, “All will be well” and to the glory of God, it was so.

Don’t be careless with your words whenever you are angry, sad, rejected, cheated on, et cetera, because there is power in your tongue. African elders believe that evil confessions work faster than god ones. I also believe that this is true because the devil is cunning; he activates evil confessions quickly and makes it difficult to undo their effects. Therefore, you must be careful of what you say with your mouth.

I recall several years ago, when it was difficult for me to feed my family, I would always tell my wife to brace up because things would not remain tough forever, and our tomorrow would be alright. Today, to the glory of God, our tomorrow is better than our yesterday. My dear child, what are you confessing over your life?

ACTION POINT:
For the next ten minutes, confess positive things into your life.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 10:1-31; Numbers 31-32

HYMN 78 – Great Is Thy Faithfulness

1 “Great is thy faithfulness”
O God my father!
There is no shadow is of turning with Thee:
Thou changest not, Thy compassion, they fail not,
As thou has been thou forever will be.

Refrain:
“Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All l have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, lord unto me!

2 Summer and winter, and spring time and Harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

3 Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide!
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
