TOPIC: Sins Of Omission [Open Heaven for Teens 22 December 2021]

MEMORISE: Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. James 4:17

READ: James 4:13-17

  1. Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
  2. Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
  3. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
  4. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
  5. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Nahum 1-3 , Revelation 13:1-18

MESSAGE:

Today’s memory verse talks about the sin of omission. Some people trivialise this type of sin because they believe it isn’t serious. Sadly, all sins of omission will confront believers on the last day. Is someone in need and you had the means to meet that need but ignored him/her? Is your sibling or classmate being punished for what he knows nothing about yet you know the truth but say nothing? Is your friend, roommate or colleague misbehaving in school and you fail to correct him or her because you feel you’re minding your business? Is someone mishandling equipment in your church and you keep quiet because it doesn’t belong to you? Is the kingdom of God suffering any loss because of your silence? A day will come when all the good things you could have done in various situations but failed to do will confront you. Make amends today before it’s too late.

ACTION POINT:

Make a list of the sins of omission in your life. Repent of them and make amends today.
