  1. To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
  2. And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
  3. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
  4. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
  5. And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
  6. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Revelation 14:1-20, Habakkuk 1-3

MESSAGE:

I usually tell my pastors that the anointing is to be desired more than anything else. The anointing breaks the yoke. Anointing in the life of any believer makes the difference. In our Bible text for today, Jesus promised the disciples that the Holy Spirit would come and when He did, there would be anointing. No wonder Peter and John could boldly tell the lame man at the Beautiful Gate that they had no silver or gold because what they carried was worth more than money.

The anointing is more than any worldly possession. No wonder Elisha waited until his master, Elijah was carried away in a chariot of fire so that he could receive the double portion of his anointing (2 Kings 2:1-15 ), unlike Gehazi who preferred worldly possessions and inherited leprosy (2 Kings 5:26-27 ). You are not too young to desire the anointing. For you to receive the anointing, you must be holy, then wait on God just like the disciples did. Believe me, exploits for God become easy when you are anointed.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please pour Your anointing upon me today.

HYMN: O Spread The Tidings Round

  1. Oh, spread the tidings round,
    Wherever man is found,
    Wherever human hearts and
    human woes abound;
    Let every Christian tongue
    proclaim the joyful sound:
    The Comforter has come!

CHORUS
The Comforter has come,
The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heaven,
The Father’s promise given;
O spread the tidings ’round,
wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!

  1. Lo, the great King of kings,
    with healing in His wings,
    To every captive soul a full
    deliverance brings;
    And thro’ the vacant cells
    the song of triumph rings:
    The Comforter has come!
  2. O boundless Love divine!
    how shall this tongue of mine
    To wond’ring mortals tell
    the matchless grace divine:
    That I, a child of hell,
    should in His image shine!
    The Comforter has come!
  3. Sing, till the echoes fly
    above the vaulted sky,
    And all the saints above
    to all below reply,
    In strains of endless love,
    the song that ne’er will die;
    The Comforter has come!
