READ: 1 Samuel 3:8-10

  1. And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.
  2. Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
  3. And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 23:12-35, Psalms 38-40

MESSAGE:

The most important gift a believer can have is the presence of God, which brings the ability to hear His voice. It is a compass for living victoriously in our world today. Hearing God is a great privilege for me because the first time I heard Him, I was so elated. Prior to that time, I attended a Bible study series in the University of Lagos one evening, where a man started prophesying that, God said… I asked the man beside me, When did God say that? I didn’t hear anything. Then, I began to thirst for this gift; you can’t imagine the great joy I had when God finally spoke to me directly.

In today’s Bible reading, God spoke to Samuel for the first time and he ran to Eli, thinking it was the old prophet who had called him. If God has been speaking to you but you’re unsure, kindly go to a spiritual elder and discuss with him or her so that he/she can help you to differentiate the Lord’s voice from others. However, you must know that God will never say anything that is against His word. Thirst to hear God from today because it is very important to know what He has to say concerning every area of your life.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please open my ears to hear You clearly

HYMN: I Am Thine O Lord

  1. I am Thine, O Lord,
    I have heard Thy voice,
    And it told Thy love to me;
    But I long to rise
    in the arms of faith
    And be closer drawn to Thee.

CHORUS
Draw me nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer,
nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

  1. Consecrate me now to
    Thy service, Lord,
    By the pow’r of grace divine;
    Let my soul look up
    with a steadfast hope,
    And my will be lost in Thine.
  2. Oh, the pure delight
    of a single hour
    That before Thy throne I spend,
    When I kneel in prayer,
    and with Thee, my God
    I commune as friend with friend!
  3. There are depths of love
    that I cannot know
    Till I cross the narrow sea;
    There are heights of joy
    that I may not reach
    Till I rest in peace with Thee.
