READ: 2 Kings 6:1-7

  1. And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
  2. Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
  3. And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
  4. So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
  5. But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
  6. And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
  7. Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

MESSAGE:

The sons of the prophets in our Bible text T for today showed a very good attitude when the head of the axe they borrowed fell into the river. At first, they tried all they could to recover it, to no avail, then they went to Elisha for assistance. This concern for other peoples things is lacking today, particularly in the lives of many young ones. People have a nonchalant attitude towards their own things, not to talk of what they borrowed. My child, it is a bad attitude to borrow something and not return it, or worse, returning it in a bad condition. It shows that the fellow does not know the value of what was borrowed or is careless.Much more important than possessions is the life we live. Many young ones, when corrected for doing something wrong, would say, Leave me alone, it is my life. No, actually, it is not your life, you only borrowed it and someday, you will give an account of how you used it. Romans 14:12 says:
“So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”

As from today, I want you to be mindful of what you do with your life. However, note that the best way to make good use of your life is to surrender it to the lordship of Jesus Christ.

ACTION POINT

Surrender your life to Christ if you haven’t done so yet.

HYMN: Let Others See Jesus In You

  1. While passing through this world of sin,
    And others your life shall view,
    Be clean and pure without, within,
    Let others see Jesus in you.

CHORUS
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.

  1. Your life’s a book before their eyes,
    They’re reading it through and through;
    Say, does it point them to the skies,
    Do others see Jesus in you?
  2. What joy ’twill be at set of sun,
    In mansions beyond the blue,
    To find some souls that you have won;
    Let others see Jesus in you.
  3. Then live for Christ both day and night,
    Be faithful, be brave, and true,
    And lead the lost to life and light;
    Let others see Jesus in you.
