READ: Acts 20:32-35

  1. And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
  2. I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.
  3. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.
  4. I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 27:26-44, Psalms 53:1-6

MESSAGE:

It’s good to receive blessings but better to be a blessing to others. A lot of Christians have an entitlement mentality that makes them assume they can get anything from anyone irrespective of whether they deserve it or not. Their prayers are centred on their desires and requests alone without bothering to pray for others who need miracles. This is not a good attitude at all. Every child of God must think about others. This is why in the second commandment, Jesus said you should love others as yourself (Matthew 22:39).

The four lepers in Samaria (2 Kings 7:3 ) hit a divine jackpot and had a field day in the enemy’s camp but they didn’t stop there, they took the news to the Kings palace so that others could benefit too. When God blesses you, He is watching to see whether you will share with others. The secret is, the more you share, the more you get but when you hoard the blessing, it doesn’t multiply in your hands. A giver’s hand is always on top; choose the better option by being a giver henceforth so that your blessings will overflow.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please deliver me from stinginess.

HYMN: There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing

  1. “There shall be showers of blessing:”
    This is the promise of love;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    Sent from the Saviour above.

Chorus:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

  1. “There shall be showers of
    blessing,”
    Precious reviving again;
    Over the hills and the valleys,
    Sound of abundance of rain.
  2. “There shall be showers of blessing;”
    Send them upon us, Oh Lord;
    Grant to us now a refreshing,
    Come and now honour Thy Word.
  3. “There shall be showers of blessing:”
    Oh, that today they might fall,
    Now as to God we’re confessing,
    Now as on Jesus we call!
  4. “There shall be showers of blessing,”
    If we but trust and obey;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    If we let God have His way.
