BIBLE READING: Ecclesiastes 7:9-12

9 Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

10 Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.

11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.

12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

MESSAGE:

A reaction is often immediate and emotional, while a response is always thoughtful. When faced with situations that provoke you, resist the urge to react impulsively. Instead, take a moment to pause and reflect before responding. Today’s memory verse advises us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. When you respond with patience and grace, those around you will see Christ in you.

Hasty reactions, especially those driven by anger, often lead to regret. Acting impulsively can damage relationships and cause unintended harm. Instead of making rash decisions, take time to pause and seek God’s guidance. As a Christian, you are called to clothe meekness, and patience (Colossians 3:12). These virtues will help you navigate difficult situations with wisdom and self-control. yourself with mercy, kindness, and humility.

My dear child, you must rely on the Holy Spirit for the grace and wisdom to answer others in a way that honours God. Remember that a calm and measured response fosters peace, understanding, and stronger relationships.

KEY POINT:
A calm response brings peace and strengthens relationships.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Luke 7:1-30, Judges 1-2

HYMN 16: Oh, Spread The Tidings Round, Wherever Man Is Found

1 O spread the tidings ’round wherever man is found,
wherever human hearts and human woes abound;
let ev’ry Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!

Refrain:
The Comforter has come! The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n, the Father’s promise giv’n!
O spread the tidings ’round, wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!

2 The long, long night is past, the morning breaks at last;
and hushed the dreadful wail and fury of the blast,
as o’er the golden hills the day advances fast!
The Comforter has come! [Refrain]

3 Lo, the great King of kings, with healing in His wings,
to ev’ry captive soul a full deliv’rance brings;
and through the vacant cells the song of triumph rings:
The Comforter has come! [Refrain]

4 O boundless love divine! How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell the matchless grace divine—
That I, a child of hell, should in His image shine!
The Comforter has come! [Refrain]
