BIBLE READING: John 6:30-35
30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
MESSAGE:
When God saved the children of Israel from their Egyptian masters and took them through the wilderness to the Promised Land, He fed them ‘manna, a miraculous meal, to satisfy their hunger. They were to gather just enough manna for each day because if they kept any until the next day, it would spoil. The only exception was on the days before Sabbath days, where they were to gather a double measure (Exodus 16:4-26). However, in today’s Bible reading, when Jesus declared Himself as the Bread of life, He emphasized the need to trust Him to truly satisfy us.
My dear child, as basic as physical food is to life, so also is spiritual food essential to a believer. Jesus is the spiritual Bread that gives us everlasting life. As you dig deep into the word of God, He will satisfy your hunger by revealing the deep things of the Spirit to you. The more you feed on the Bread of life, the more you will grow and become healthy spiritually, and when you are spiritually healthy, you will be more productive in every other aspect of your life.
KEY POINT:
Only Jesus can satisfy completely.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 13:1-13, Deuteronomy 11-13
HYMN 7 – I Am Thine, O Lord
1 l am Thine, O Lord
I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Chorus:
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died.
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
3 Oh the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!
4 There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till l cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till T rest in peace with Thee.
