TOPIC: Don’t Stir Up Trouble (Open Heaven for Teens, 8 May 2026)

MEMORISE: Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9

BIBLE READING: Proverbs 6:16-19

16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

MESSAGE:

Stirring up discord is one of the things that at God hates, as we see in today’s Bible reading. God also warns against those who cause division among people and fuel conflicts. The devil delights in causing confusion, so he uses different vices such as gossip, grudges, or misunderstandings to break relationships.

As a child of God, you have been called to be a peacemaker, not a troublemaker. When you hear a rumour, do not assist in spreading it. If some of your friends are arguing, don’t take sides; rather, pray for wisdom to help restore peace. When you are tempted to engage in conflict or spread negativity, ask yourself, “Is this helping or hurting?” Thereafter, choose peace so that God can be glorified in you.

I believe that if every Christian chooses peace over drama and conflict, we will have better friendships, families, schools, churches, and a better society at large. Therefore, always ensure that you are at peace with everyone around you. Also, when you see conflict or argument stirred up among your classmates, try to make peace or call an elderly person to handle the situation promptly.

KEY POINT:
Be a peacemaker, not a troublemaker.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 12:28-44, Deuteronomy 8-10

HYMN 16: Oh, Spread The Tidings Round, Wherever Man Is Found

1 O spread the tidings ’round wherever man is found,
wherever human hearts and human woes abound;
let ev’ry Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!

Refrain:
The Comforter has come! The Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from heav’n, the Father’s promise giv’n!
O spread the tidings ’round, wherever man is found:
The Comforter has come!

2 The long, long night is past, the morning breaks at last;
and hushed the dreadful wail and fury of the blast,
as o’er the golden hills the day advances fast!
The Comforter has come! [Refrain]

3 Lo, the great King of kings, with healing in His wings,
to ev’ry captive soul a full deliv’rance brings;
and through the vacant cells the song of triumph rings:
The Comforter has come! [Refrain]

4 O boundless love divine! How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell the matchless grace divine—
That I, a child of hell, should in His image shine!
The Comforter has come! [Refrain]
