MEMORISE: And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 1 Samuel 15:22

READ: Genesis 3:17-19

  1. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
  2. Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
  3. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

MESSAGE:

Disobedience is a terrible thing. Although it seems harmless, it can undo a persons blessings. In today’s Bible reading, after God blessed Adam and Eve, they disobeyed Him, and as a result, their blessings were turned to curses. God is a merciful and loving Father but He is also a consuming fire to the disobedient (Deuteronomy 4:24).

God’s initial plan was that we would enjoy heaven on earth right from creation in the sense that everything would be available to human beings; there would be no lack, need, problems or prayer requests. However, when God made man and gave them the will to make choices, Adam and Eve chose disobedience; they fell Gods hands and saw His unpleasant side.

Do you know that every time you eat, touch, say or do what God commands you not to, you are automatically reversing His blessings on your life? Check your life today to see if your struggles, hustling and sorrow are not as a result of disobedience. If they are, run back to God in repentance today.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, let me never do whatever will turn my blessings to curses.
