Topic: Respect Your Mates [Open Heavens for Teens 21 December 2018]

Memorise: Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Romans 12:10

Read: 1 Peter 2:15-17 (KJV)

Bible In One Year: Micah 6-7, Revelation 12

MESSAGE:

As teens, we must have been told so many times to respect our elders, and your attention is almost never given to respecting your mates. 1 Peter 2:17 tells us to honour all men, this includes our mates. To respect a person is to value and honour that person to the point of treating them exactly how you would want to be treated.

The fact that you are age mates or class mates with a person doesn’t mean you should not respect that person. If people older than you are the only ones you show respect to, then something is wrong. And it is only a matter of time before other people start to treat you with disrespect too. Have you made it a habit to disrespect your mates because you see no reason to respect them? The Bible condemns this. Change your ways and start to treat your mates with respect.

Key Point: Respect is reciprocal.

Hymn 13:

  1. Is your life a channel of blessing?
    Is the love of God flowing through you?
    Are you telling the lost of the Savior?
    Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

  1. Is your life a channel of blessing?
    Are you burdened for those that are lost?
    Have you urged upon those who are straying
    The Savior who does on the cross
  2. Is your life a channel of blessing?
    Is it a daily telling for Him?
    Have you spoken the word of salvation?
    To those who are dying in sin?
  3. We cannot be channels of blessing
    If our lives are not free from sin;
    We will barriers be and a hindrance
    To those we are trying to win.
