No fewer than 2,000 members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Onne, Akpu, Ogboji and Agbudu communities of Orumba South local government Area of Anambra state have defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

The APGA supporters from these communities defected on Saturday at a rally organised by the duo of the PDP candidate for Anambra South Senatorial district in the February 14, Presidential and National Assembly election, Senator Andy Uba and the Orumba North/South Federal Constituency candidate, Hon. Ben Nwankwo at Agbudu square in the area.

Leading the decamped, the President-General of Onne community who is also an APGA faithful who spoke on their behalf, Mr. Uchenna Madike said they decided to join the PDP because their membership of APGA in the last 12 years had neither been eventful nor yielded anything positive to their communities.

The members, he said, were from the four communities in Orumba South which are least developed, adding that the APGA administration in the state has done nothing to bring development to them or ameliorate their sufferings. [Thisday]
